The centerpiece of all this is the breathtaking Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The most-visited National Park in the United States, it protects the largest unspoiled wilderness in the Appalachians, as well as preserving a pioneer culture that once flourished here.
A wonderful "show of color" can be enjoyed as the fall foliage announces the end of the summer season. But that doesn't bring an end to the fun in the mountains. Attractions in the area include an all-season amusement park, ski resorts and the Winterfest celebration, which runs from November through February each year. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN each have their own presentation of lights that are unique to the Smoky Mountain area. Maggie Valley, NC celebrates "Christmas in the Valley." Come spring, the mountains re-awaken with carpets of wildflowers.
Truly a vacation paradise for all seasons, you won't believe how much there is to do here!
