On day two of Chris and Wendie’s “Great Romantic Getaway Cheap Vacation,” they enjoyed a leisurely breakfast in their Pigeon Forge
cabin rental and then set out for the new
Titanic
Museum attraction.
Having seen and enjoyed together the movie Titanic, the couple was excited to experience the events of that fateful starry night
first hand. Because the Titanic featured so many different facets of the real life drama, Chris and Wendie provided some of the
highlights from their experience.
-
When they entered, they were given a boarding pass with the name of a real passenger. Along the way, they found artifacts and
information that related to their passenger. And at the end of the exhibit, they found out if they survived or perished.
Wendie’s passenger survived and Chris’ perished.
- The staff spoke with British accents and took on the roles of the various ship crew.
-
Chris and Wendie were able to recreate the famous scene when Rose descends the stairs to meet Jack on an actual size replica of
the Grand Staircase.
- They viewed photos taken by a photographer who had actually been aboard the Titanic and gotten off at the first stop.
-
They were able to touch the frozen surface of an “iceberg” and feel the impact of the freezing temperature of the ocean water as
it was that night.
-
Chris got a big kick out of sending an SOS signal from the ship’s communications room and receiving return communication from the
coast guard.
- Both were touched and moved after listening to the survivors’ stories while sitting in actual lifeboats.
- They saw a first class stateroom and a third class cabin. And marveled at the remarkable difference in accommodations.
-
Chris and Wendie both were impressed with the world-class gallery rooms chock full of rare historical artifacts, which made it
seem as if they had been transported in time.
These are just a few of the highlights as related by Chris and Wendie during their
romantic weekend getaway adventure.
But why not take a page from their playbook and plan your own “Great Romantic Getaway Cheap Vacation,” in the
Smoky Mountains. You can take in the Titanic
for yourself and rekindle your own marriage by renting a cabin in Pigeon Forge.
