In the 1960s, the Temptations gave music lovers fair warning: "Get ready, 'cause here I come." Now the music of one of Motown's iconic singing groups has indeed arrived, and it's playing live in the Smokies at The Grand Majestic Theater in Pigeon Forge.
The theater's headline attraction is a musical tribute to the Temptations starring Nate Evans, who began performing with original vocalists David Ruffin, Dennis Edwards and Eddie Kendricks.
For this newest tribute to the Motown legends, Evans has assembled a lineup of singers that is electrifying audiences nightly with nearly two solid hours of Temptations gold, spanning some 50 albums and 50-plus top 10 singles. Throughout the show, Evans shares not only his talents but also his memories of working with the group's original members.
"We saw a niche for bringing something completely different to the Pigeon Forge market," says Ron Layher, producer of the Smoky Mountain Theater. "Motown music is making a resurgence, and there's nothing else like it in this area."
The show takes place in the 1200 seat Grand Majestic Theater on Music Mountain Road. After each show, Evans and company stick around to meet their guests and sign autographs.
